    Metro District Services

Besides wastewater treatment and transmission, the Metro District provides, on a limited basis, other wastewater-related services such as laboratory testing, sludge processing and reuse, hauled waste treatment, and emergency wastewater treatment. While not mandatory, these financially self-supporting services are related to the Metro District's primary mission of wastewater treatment.

The Metro District has also, in conjunction with federal, state, and other local governmental agencies, implemented the Industrial Pretreatment Program to protect the wastewater treatment plant, water and biosolids quality, and public health and the environment. By means of applied pretreatment standards, the program is designed to reduce the level of pollutants discharged by industry and other non-domestic wastewater sources into municipal sewer systems, and thereby, reduce the amount of pollutants released into the environment through wastewater. The objectives of the program are to protect the Metro District from pollutants that may interfere with plant operation, to prevent untreated pollutants from being introduced into the Metro District’s facilities, to protect public health and the environment, and to improve opportunities for the Metro District to reuse wastewater and solids that are generated.

Although the Metro District does not accept recreational vehicle waste, as a public service it provides a listing of various locations along the Front Range area that do.
