Optimization studies at the Metro District have identified sidestream enhanced biological phosphorus removal and deammonification as a cost-effective solution to meet increasingly stringent nutrient removal standards. After design was completed, construction for the Sidestream Nutrient Removal Project began in June 2016, with expected completion in late 2017.
