Ribbon cutting in 2016 marked final completion of the South Secondary Improvements Project

A ribbon-cutting ceremony and tour of the South Complex (May 17, 2016) followed completion of the $211 South Secondary Improvements Project at the Robert W. Hite Treatment Facility.

The start of a new era in the South Complex began when the work for Milestone 1 was finished in September 2014 and the aeration basins went online. The final work for Milestone 2 followed and included:

Milestone 2 work was completed in November 2015 and final completion for the entire project was granted as of December 30, 2015.

The South Complex now functions much like the North Complex with nearly identical effluent quality – allowing the Metro District to meet more stringent regulatory nitrogen and ammonia discharge standards which became effective January 1, 2015.

Total project cost: $211 million
