National Association of Clean Water Agencies Peak Performance Awards
The Metro District received a Gold Award in 2016 from the National Association of Clean Water Agencies for excellence in permit compliance (2015 compliance data). Gold Awards are presented to facilities with no permit violations for the entire calendar year.

RMWEA Sustainability Award
The Metro District was also honored with the RMWEA Sustainability Award from the Rocky Mountain Water Environment Association. The award recognizes wastewater treatment utilities that embrace the principles of sustainability – including systems thinking, design practices, management practices, and infrastructure systems that not only sustain the utility, but society as well.

RMWEA Plant Operation Merit Award
The Rocky Mountain Water Environment Association recognized Martin Alvis (Treatment Superintendent) with the Plant Operation Merit Award. The award acknowledges an outstanding individual who has demonstrated excellence in plant performance and effluent quality.

WEF Arthur Sidney Bedell Award
Edyta Stec-Uddin (Senior Engineer O&M) received the WEF Arthur Sydney Bedell Award for outstanding personal service to a member organization (Rocky Mountain Water Environment Association). The award highlights many contributions, including organizational leadership, administrative service, and membership activity.

RMSAWWA/RMWEA Volunteer Excellence Award
Edyta Stec-Uddin (Senior Engineer O&M) was also the recipient of the RMSAWWA/RMWEA Volunteer Excellence Award for more than a decade of dedicated service. The award was presented by the American Water Works Association Rocky Mountain Section and the Rocky Mountain Water Environment Association for her volunteer efforts with both organizations.

RMWEA Biosolids Management Award
Arlisa Michael (RR&R Biosolids Specialist) was presented with the RMWEA Biosolids Management Award for her outstanding efforts in 2016. A number of criteria considered for the award include proper biosolids treatment options, development of a sound biosolids reuse program, and development of an effective biosolids monitoring program.

Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting
For the 29th consecutive year, the Metro District received the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting.
