    Laboratory Services

    The Laboratory Services Department (LAB) carries out Metro District programs relating to sampling, chemical and biological analyses, environmental monitoring and assessment, and hauled wastes. The LAB also provides technical and analytical support to other Metro District programs.
    Some of the typical services the LAB provides are:
    • Fulfills all monitoring requirements in accordance with the Metro District’s NPDES Discharge Permit to ensure the discharge of environmentally safe and clean water to the South Platte River.
    • Fulfills all monitoring requirements in accordance with the biosolids regulations to ensure the beneficial reuse of the biosolids.
    • Provides analytical support in accordance with the Industrial Waste Pretreatment Regulations to ensure industrial discharges do not cause any adverse impact on the wastewater treatment processes.
    • Provides analytical support to Metro District’s wastewater treatment, wastewater transmission, solids processing and reuse, and special projects.
    • Provides analytical support to the environmental monitoring program to assess the impact of the Metro District’s effluent on Segment 15 of the South Platte River and its downstream reservoirs.
    In addition, the LAB provide's analytical services for a fee to other governmental agencies, such as connecting municipalities, other governmental agencies, and parties engaged in work for the Metro District. The LAB does not perform work for the general public.
