    Hauled Wastes

Background - In 1978, the Metro Wastewater Reclamation District implemented a Hauled Wastes Program to allow the Metro District to accept routine hauled wastes from septic tanks, grease traps, and chemical toilets. The Program's main objective is to provide the Metro District with the ability to monitor and control discharges. This would not be possible if waste haulers were discharging directly into the Metro District's transmission system or into other sewage systems connected to the District's system. In 1991, the Program was expanded to allow acceptance of other non-hazardous treatable wastes, such as wash water from paint mixing equipment, which could be effectively and efficiently handled by the Metro District.

Obtaining Permits - Companies wishing to obtain a Hauled Wastes Discharge Permit may download or request an information packet containing materials explaining the program and the application process. The application for non-routine haulers contains questions about waste to be discharged, this questionnaire must be filled out and submitted prior to entering the application process. The questionnaire will provide necessary information required by a review committee for approving acceptance of all non-routine hauled wastes. Information packets can be downloaded below or may be obtained by contacting Tammy Walker at (303) 286-3000.
