Farm Maintenance Plan: Fences
The major fence project for 2004 on the METROGRO Farm was the North boundary fence along the South Property. Project crews worked diligently to tear down the 5.5 miles of tattered fence that existed there prior to the start of this project. Once the fence was torn down, a complete and total replacement began. In June 2004 this project was completed. Along with installation of the fence, buffer strips will be planted in the spring of 2005, and will be maintained by mowing. The buffer strips will reduce the risk of soil erosion.
Fence projects are a major part of the Farm Maintenance Plan as it is important to fence out any grazing livestock in an effort to protect pasture and cropland on the METROGRO Farm.
