    Biosolids Application Plan: Soil Testing

Soils are monitored after the last crop has been harvested and prior to each biosolids application. The soil testing parameters are in the table below:
    Soil Testing Parameters

    Nutrients

    Metals*

    Organic Matter Arsenic
    Nitrate-Nitrogen Cadmium
    Ammonia-Nitrogen Chromium
    pH Copper
    Conductivity Lead
    Available Phosphorus Mercury
    Total Phosphorus Molybdenum
      Nickel
      Selenium
      Zinc
    * Total and Available Metals are analyzed
These application sites, 320-acre maximum size, are designated with Destination Code numbers (DCs). The soil samples are two feet deep and are composites of at least 16 core samples per DC or field(s) therein. Using nutrient loading rate tables in the CSU Guide to Fertilizer Recommendations for the crop to be planted and the results of the soil tests, a nitrogen-loading rate is determined for each DC or field(s) therein. The amount of biosolids is then applied to the site in order to meet this nitrogen-loading rate.
